The Sefwi-Wiawso District is the seventh largest in the Western Region. Lying in the north-eastern part of the region, it is bordered to the north by Brong Ahafo Region.

To the west, it is bordered by Juabeso and Bia District and by Aowin/ Suaman to the south. It is also bordered by Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai to the coast and Wassa Amenfi West to the south-east.
