Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal forms part of twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The Administrative Capital of the Municipality is Wiawso. The Municipality shares boundaries with Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai to the east, to the west with Bodi District, to the north with Asunafo South in the Brong Ahafo Region and to the south with Aowin District.

The Sefwi Wiawso District Assembly is committed to improving the quality of life of its people and has over the years devoted a lot of its resources in creating an enabling environment that will lead to food security, a well educated and healthy population.

Education, health, human resource and agriculture have been given priority attention and received massive infrastructural development in the district.
